About This Project The Hobbit is a classic novel written by J.R.R. Tolkien that follows the adventures of Bilbo Baggins as he departs on a journey through middle earth with a wizard and twelve other dwarves. The story was later produced into three separate movies: An Unexpected Journey, The Desolation of Smaug, and The Battle of Five Armies. The illustrations of each book were inspired by themes of Tolkien’s middle earth as well as the language he created for the dwarves known as Cirth script. The outside reveals the title of the book in Cirth, a prized possession or weapon, and the title in a style inspired by the motifs of middle earth. The inner flaps include an illustration of scenes important to the story as well as a summary and author biography.
